Urban Strap was born in December 2020, during a time when the world slowed down—and creativity found new meaning.

What began as simple curiosity—sparked by a YouTube video on making a leather key fob—quietly turned into a calling.

With no formal background in leathercraft, but a lifelong love for making things by hand, the journey felt natural. From crafting pop-up origami greeting cards during college to spending over three decades designing and building complex systems as a computer engineer, the thread was always the same: patience, precision, and respect for the process.

After a 33+ year career as a Computer Engineer, culminating in retirement from Tata Consulting Engineers in August 2025, that passion finally became purpose.

Today, Urban Strap is a solo, hands-on leather atelier—where every piece is designed, cut, stitched, and finished by me, one at a time.

Craftsmanship & Materials

Only full-grain and top-grain leather is used—sourced from premium Indian tanneries and select imports.

Each piece is:

• Hand-cut

• Hand-stitched

• Edge-painted and burnished by hand

No shortcuts. No assembly lines.

Depending on the design, each product takes anywhere from two days to a full week to complete—allowing the leather, the process, and the details the time they deserve.
